Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer
As Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer for Sanofi Pasteur North America, Chad Hoover knows the value of effective relationships in driving the company’s public health mission and legacy of growth within the highly competitive vaccines marketplace. In his leadership role across U.S. and Canadian Commercial Operations, Hoover directs the development and implementation of commercial strategies that promote sustainable growth and build on Sanofi Pasteur’s vaccines market leadership position.
Responsible for more than $3 billion in North American vaccine sales, Hoover concentrates on guiding the specialized activities of each area under his leadership, including Sanofi Pasteur’s subsidiary business, VaxServe. This coordinated effort drives all team members to work together to bring the greatest value to the business, its customers and its patients.
Having launched his career with the company in the field sales force, Hoover has taken on roles of increasing responsibility during his 23 years with Sanofi Pasteur. Most recently, he served as Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer for the U.S., a role in which he led his team to successfully launch key products, including diversified offerings for influenza immunization. Through the efforts of Hoover’s commercial team, Sanofi Pasteur remains a leader in pediatric, adolescent and adult vaccines, providing protection against serious infectious diseases for millions of North Americans every year.
Under his management, Sanofi Pasteur has set itself apart in understanding its customers and the impact of policies that support public health throughout the nation. Hoover has managed the company’s portfolio growth from $766 million in 2001 to more than $3 billion in 2015, a compounded annual growth rate of more than 10 percent. This timeframe has seen the influenza vaccine business grow to over $1 billion in sales, offering more than 65 million doses of vaccine annually to the U.S. marketplace to help protect against influenza. As a leader in meningococcal meningitis vaccination, the company has focused on educating parents and health care providers regarding the importance of protection against this devastating disease. Hoover continues to work toward building an unsurpassed commercial operations team and reaffirming Sanofi Pasteur’s position as a gold-standard public health partner.
Hoover also demonstrates his commitment to vaccines through his co-leadership role with the Biotechnology Industry Organization’s (BIO) Vaccine Policy Advisory Committee. A native of Montana and graduate of Montana State University, Hoover now resides in Bethlehem with his wife and two children.
